After making The Prototype, I addressed all the previous issues and tried again with Ojo.
First, I switched to a thinner rope so it wasn’t so bulky. That immediately made the bag lighter! I also made the bag smaller so it wouldn’t be awkward on the hip.
The next issue I addressed was the fuzziness of the yarn. I did some research and decided to use mercerized cotton yarn! It was more expensive but wow did it wrap beautifully! Smooth like butter and no fuzz! I will say that it does pick up dust/pilling more easily than my other bag though.
Lastly, to address the gaps left on my straps/bag, I painted the rope the color of the yarn as I was wrapping. So if any of the rope does peek through (which is inevitable) it matches the yarn so it doesn’t stand out like the red rope did on The Prototype. This made the process longer as I had to wait for the paint to dry, but I think it was worth it! Made it look more polished!

Supplies:
Foam Core Rope
Mercerized Cotton Yarn
Tapestry Needle
Acrylic leather paint in the colors blue, turquoise, white and black
Lots & lots of patience

After I finished this, I took a break from making bags since I had spent the last year working on 2 of them back to back!
The next thing I made was The Love Chalice, which I already shared on here.

Watermelon Bowl will be the next piece I’ll post.

Well that’s all for now!
Until next time!
