My husband and I recently started a tradition of making homemade Valentine’s day cards for each other instead of buying them! It started back in 2024, when I made my husband a WWE wrestling belt themed Valentine.

He was so surprised & loved it so much that we decided that we’d make custom Valentines for each other every year!
So for the next year (2025) I made his card themed on his other major interest- Basketball! I found a cute retro basketball character SVG on Etsy and placed it on brown craft paper to mimic a wooden basketball court. I also included a photo collage stat sheet with all our relationship stats on the inside!

My husband made me a cute card that looks like a gameboy! He put a black & white picture of us on the screen and our initials on the buttons that he also made look like hearts! So cute/sweet!

And finally we get to this year’s cards! I’ll start with my husband’s card first then share my own!
I asked Ry what his vision for my card was and this is what he said- “I wanted a rainbow heart (Powerpuff Girls style) card with your name in the middle, like a classic valentine. On the inside I wanted to hand write a love note using a quill pen and ink. It came out even better than I imagined. I am so happy with it. I really tried to take my time layering the colors. Even if the gold does peak through, it has a nice shimmer. I used glue sticks for the first time in a very long time! It was a scene!”

This year I decided to make my valentine into a box so I could put some candy inside! I made my own pattern based on a candy box I got last year and went through many prototypes to get the dimensions right before I was happy with the template! I used my Cricut Maker 3’s knife blade to cut the pattern into a thicker cardboard so it would hold its shape. I actually used the cardboard sheet that’s used to stabilize the 12”x24” glitter cardstock paper packs at Michaels and it worked perfectly!

The theme for my valentine this year was Fortnite since that is our favorite game to play together. So I made a Loot Llama themed box!

I love how our Valentines came out! We had so much fun making them!:) I felt like a kid again, making a special valentine for my crush!
I also made an embroidered portrait as a gift for my husband but I’ll share that in a separate post!
Well that’s all I have to share for now! I love Valentines day and I love Love! I hope you have a lovely day. 🙂
Until next time!
